Dar assures US envoy about commitment to IMF programme

Islamabad: Minister for Finance Ishaq Dar assured US Ambassador Donald Blome that Pakistan government remains committed to completing ongoing International Monetary Fund (IMF) programme, development that comes amid widespread speculation on facility’s future given it ends in June. As per statement released by Finance Division, Blome called on Ishaq Dar today. During meeting, Minister informed US envoy about current IMF programme.
Meanwhile, as per statement, Dar welcomed Blome and shared deep-rooted historic and durable bilateral relations with United States on economic and trade fronts. Minister shared economic policies and priorities of government to address challenging economic environment and set economy to stability and growth.
“Two sides exchanged views on matters of mutual interest and enhancing existing bilateral relations between both countries,” read statement. Dar informed US Ambassador about incumbent government’s plans related to revenues and expenditures for meeting its national as well as international financial obligations. He shared various economic avenues in which both countries can further deepen their economic relations.
“US envoy underscored that both countries enjoy good relations and expressed confidence on policies and programmes of government for economic sustainability and socio-economic uplift of masses. “He extended his support to further promote bilateral economic, investment and trade relations between both countries,” read statement.
