ISLAMABAD: Three-member bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) will hear case regarding holding general elections in 90 days in Supreme Court from today. Notices have also been issued to parties in this case.

Remember that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Jamaat-e-Islami and Supreme Court Bar Association filed applications in Supreme Court for date of holding general elections within 90 days of dissolution of National Assembly.

President of Supreme Court Bar Association Abid Shahid Zuberi had also challenged decision of Council of Common Interests to conduct general elections within 90 days and conduct elections under new constituencies in petition filed under Article 184/3 of Constitution.

In petition filed in Supreme Court, it has been argued that notification issued in light of decision of Council of Common Interests should be declared illegal.
