JI city amir welcomes announcement of LG polls schedule

KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi amir Hafiz Naeemur Rehman welcomed announcement of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) regarding schedule for Local Government (LG) polls in remaining 11 union councils (UCs). Hafiz Naeem addressing press conference said that election schedule for remaining 11 UCs is victory of nation. He said that election is constitutional, legal and democratic right of all Karachiites.

He said that JI would not stage sit-in if ECP announces schedule of LG polls. He announced that Jamaat-e-Islami will actively participate in upcoming LG polls on 11 seats.

JI Karachi said that they will protect vote of every Karachi citizen in all UCs. He announced holding JI workers’ convention today near M A Jinnah Road. Earlier in day, Election Commission of Pakistan issued schedule of Local Government polls across Sindh.

According to notification, polling will be held on April 18 in 93 constituencies across Sindh, while candidates will be able to submit their nomination papers for LG polls till March 22.
