Laiba Khan, one of the most successful and popular actresses in Pakistan, has been on a roll with back-to-back hits like Baylagaam, Kaffara, Aafat, and Aas Paas.
Her drama Kaffara broke records, amassing 2 billion views, while Aas Paas, her Ramzan drama, surpassed all other Ramadan shows with an impressive 500 million views.
However, despite this immense success, Laiba recently opened up about the industry’s unfair treatment of Aas Paas during an interview with Canadian-based Indian media journalist Faridoon Sheheryar. Laiba shared her disappointment over the lack of attention the drama received, especially during its initial airing. “I was afraid when my drama went on air because I knew the competition was tough with big actors and big channels,” Laiba said. She explained how her drama failed to generate the expected hype after its teasers, with most focus going to three other major dramas. “They snubbed Aas Paas completely. No one talked about our drama at all,” she revealed. Laiba expressed how saddened she was by the situation but recalled how her co-star Ali Ansari reassured her, saying, “Relax, it happens.
This is the industry, it’s a lobby system. Just let the drama air.” Despite the initial setbacks, Laiba is now celebrating Aas Paas’s massive success. “I’m so happy that Aas Paas won with a bigger margin,” she said. She reflected on the experience, stating that despite being sidelined by the industry’s lobbying system, her fans’ support proved stronger than any external influence.
“The lobby system is nothing - your fans make you a star,” Laiba concluded, expressing her gratitude and newfound confidence after the drama’s triumph.
