KARACHI: Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori has welcomed the World’s best low-cost Airline AirAsia in Pakistan and congratulated the milestone in expanding its footprint in South Asia with the official announcement of its latest new route between Karachi and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Addressing as a chief guest on the occasion Governor said this is the time when Pakistan is taking off for its economic flight and AirAsia is going to join us in this remarkable journey. Pakistani businessmen and tourists will appreciate AirAsia’s this joining investment. 

AirAsia is set to commence on 30 May 2025 with a frequency of four times weekly, the new route will fortify AAX’s position as the sole low-cost carrier in Malaysia to offer direct air connectivity to Karachi. This new route will serve as a major achievement in enhancing travel connections between Pakistan and Malaysia, both bustling nations with thriving economies with plenty of tourism and trade potential. 

Benyamin Ismail, CEO of AirAsia X, Khawaja Ali Kamal Majid, CEO of TCB Aviation Pvt Ltd. and Nadir Shafi Dar, Director General Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority also addressed the press conference.

Benyamin Ismail, CEO of AirAsia X announced that AAX is offering promotional fares from Karachi to Kuala Lumpur starting from only PKR 55,890/- all in one way, with free 20 Kg of checked baggage allowance. TCB Aviation Pvt Ltd is their official travel agent. We are grateful to the support we have received from the government in Pakistan, as well as our partners and stakeholders. We see tremendous potential for travel between these two cities, with the aim to fly more than 100,000 passengers annually on this route and with countless opportunities for travelers from Karachi to explore our key markets such as Australia, China, Thailand and more via our Fly-Thru services, he said. 

He disclosed that they will use Airbus A-330 big bird on this route. Soon they will extend the service to Lahore, Islamabad and Peshawar, now everyone can fly through our low fares. The airline has already 230 destinations the world over, he added.
