Karachi: Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi has urged Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi to focus on a single role instead of managing multiple responsibilities.
Speaking at an event here, Afridi stated that the PCB chairmanship requires full-time commitment and cannot be handled alongside other government roles. “Mohsin Naqvi is willing to work, but he has no prior experience in cricket. He needs to choose one position because managing three roles simultaneously is not feasible.
The PCB chairmanship is a full-time job,” Afridi said. Shahid Afridi revealed that Naqvi himself admitted to having limited knowledge of cricket and suggested he should work closely with experts rather than bureaucrats. He also urged Mohsin Naqvi to involve experienced cricket professionals in key decision-making roles.
Shahid Afridi also raised concerns over the International Cricket Council (ICC) not inviting the PCB chairman to the Champions Trophy 2025 closing ceremony, calling it a “big question.” Additionally, he criticised the selection decisions for the upcoming tour of New Zealand, stating that Mohammad Rizwan should have been retained as T20I captain instead of Agha Salman.
