Mysterious ailment claims lives of 19 including 16 children in Keamari

KARACHI: At least 16 children among 19 people have died due to mysterious fever in Muhammad Ali Laghari goth in Keamari District. According to details, more than 30 children were still sick of mysterious fever as there were no dispensaries in area for treatment. Moreover, smoke coming from ‘illegal’ factories makes it difficult to breathe for patients.

Meanwhile, District Health Office Kemari Dr Muhammad Arif claimed that death of two children are due to Measles [Khasra], adding that team was working further to find out reasons behind deaths in Goth.

DHO Kemari Muhammad Arif stated that team is collecting samples from patients and directed them to establish medical camps and appoint doctors to take further care of patients.

On other hand, Deputy Commissioner Keamari Mukhtiar Ali Abro sealed multiple illegal factories and arrested four persons while saying that 10 children have died in area so far.

DC stated that smoke from factories due to burning of plastic and other harmful material spread disease among children.

He added that smoke caused throat of children to deteriorate and later symptoms like pneumonia appeared.
