PM Shehbaz, Trump exchange greetings at Arab-Islamic Summit in New York

NEW YORK: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and U.S. President Donald Trump exchanged warm greetings on Wednesday during the Arab-Islamic Summit, held on the sidelines of the 80th UN General Assembly session.
The informal interaction featured a handshake and brief candid conversation, with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar accompanying the premier. The summit was co-hosted by President Trump and the Amir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, bringing together leaders from across the Muslim world.
During the event, Shehbaz also met Sheikh Tamim, King Abdullah II of Jordan, and Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto. These meetings were marked by cordial exchanges, reflecting mutual goodwill and a shared focus on regional cooperation.
Separately, the prime minister held a bilateral meeting with Crown Prince of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah. Shehbaz reaffirmed the historic ties between Pakistan and Kuwait, conveying warm wishes for the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. He thanked Kuwait for its solidarity after Pakistan’s recent floods and expressed eagerness to deepen cooperation in trade, investment, agriculture, livestock, manpower, and health.
