President appreciates POF’s role in meeting demand of Defence Supplies

ISLAMABAD: President Dr Arif Alvi visiting to Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF) Wah yesterday, urged need to focus on Research and Development, bring innovation and modernisation and adopt best practices to further improve its efficiency and productivity. 

“Defense production sector has immense potential for growth which can be fully realised by continuously improving capacity of its human resource and adopting emerging and critical technologies powered by Artificial Intelligence, virtual reality and robotics”, he added.  President underlined need to employ modern marketing techniques and improve efficiency of supply chain to consolidate our position in existing markets and increasing our footprint in new and non-traditional markets by promoting Pakistani defense products which were high quality, effective and dependable in any given situation and were at same time very cost-effective.

He appreciated POF for its pivotal role in moving towards self-sufficiency and in meeting growing demand of our defense sector and civilian security agencies, as well as capturing foreign markets by improving its efficiency, adopting quality financial management practices and digitalising its processes to transform POF into self-sustainable and progressive defense industrial complex. 

Dr Arif Alvi visited different parts of POF and was given overview of production and manufacturing processes. He took keen interest in different defense products manufactured at POF. President was also briefed on role of POF in fulfilling ammunition requirements of Pakistan’s Armed Forces and Law Enforcement Agencies and steps taken by it to develop academia-industry linkages.
