KARACHI: On the occasion of Human Rights Day, the Youth Forum for Kashmir – Karachi Regional Office (YFK-KRO) organized a meaningful and dignified ceremony at Karachi Press Club. The event witnessed participation from a large number of distinguished guests, civil society representatives, media personnel, and students.

Two prominent personalities were invited as chief guests. Fazil Jamili, President of Karachi Press Club (KPC), could not attend due to personal commitments, while Qazi Adeel Farooqi, President of Pakistan Peoples Party Azad Kashmir – Karachi Division, participated enthusiastically. In his speech, he highlighted the ongoing human rights violations in Kashmir, emphasizing that no Security Council resolution has been implemented and mountains of oppression continue to burden Kashmiris. He added that the Pakistani people have always raised their voices in favor of Kashmiris.

Other notable participants included Ms. Mehnaz Akhtar (PPP AJK Women Wing) and Chaudhry Aurangzeb, who also graced the programme. The event began with the recitation of the Holy Quran and the national anthem, followed by a briefing from Ayesha Rasheed, Project Manager YFK-KRO, on the organization’s mission, role, and the dire human rights situation in Kashmir.

The distinguished guests emphasized that human rights violations in Kashmir present an open challenge to the international community and urged Pakistani youth to play an active role in raising their voices for Kashmir. The efforts of YFK Karachi Region Office were praised for organizing the youth and strengthening solidarity for the Kashmiri cause.

Students were specially invited to participate and demonstrate their support. Students from Scholar Public School and Farnaz Excellence School attended the event, highlighting the awareness of the younger generation regarding human rights issues in Kashmir and their readiness to raise their voices in solidarity.

Other distinguished speakers included Chaudhry Aurangzeb, Senior Member of Pakistan Peoples Party; Khursheed Inqilabi, Senior Member of PPP AJK Karachi Division; Sheikh Manzoor, President of Markazi Muslim League; and Mufti Fida Elahi, Chairman of Takreem-e-Khalq Foundation.

The continuous efforts of YFK Karachi Region Office have significantly increased awareness and solidarity for Kashmir among youth, establishing the organization as a popular and trusted platform. The YFK aims to continue its struggle for human rights, justice, and the right to self-determination of the Kashmiri people in a more organized manner.

The ceremony concluded with an impressive tableau that artistically depicted the pain, struggle, and hope of the oppressed people of Kashmir. Shields were presented to the guests, and the programme formally ended at 1 pm.
