CM Murad directs food deptt to ensure flour price at Rs95 per kg in open market

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah chairing price control of flour meeting directed food department to ensure Rs 95 per kilo grams price in open market and at Rs 65 per kilo of subsidies wheat flour.

Minister Food Mukesh Chawla, Chief Secretary Sohail Rajput, PSCM Fayaz Jatoi, Secretary Food Khurram Shahzad, and Director Food Khurram Shahzad attended meeting.

Mukesh Kumar Chawla told CM that his department was releasing 8,000 tons to 12,000 tonnes of wheat daily and added wheat stocks to meet province’s wheat requirement till end of February were available. CM said that if food department was releasing enough then why flour price is not coming under control. He categorically directed food department to control atta prices.

Food Minister said that over 618,569 tonnes of wheat was available. He added that from  first week of March new crops would start pouring into market and prices would go down automatically.

CM directed chief secretary to further activate district administration in controlling prices of not only flour but other commodities such as vegetables, fruit, chicken, beef, mutton, eggs and pulses.
