Investment of $340m in manufacturing, charging plants with China's cooperation: Malik Khuda Bakhsh

KARACHI: Pakistan's economy is now heading towards stability, and foreign investors are once again turning towards the country. Through our efforts, a Chinese company has taken a step forward in investing 340 million dollars in manufacturing and charging plants in Pakistan.
In collaboration with China's ADN Group, one charging station has already been established in Karachi and Lahore, and a total of 3,000 charging stations will be set up across Pakistan. These thoughts were expressed by Malik Khuda Bakhsh, Chairman of Malik Group and Convenor of the FPCCI Energy Committee, during a media conversation.
Malik Khuda Bakhsh, expressed these thoughts during a media conversation. He further explained that Sindh's Energy Minister Nasir Hussain Shah had assured them that if the Chinese company manufactures electric vehicles in Pakistan, the provincial government would purchase more than 20% of the vehicles from the plant being set up in Karachi. "We are working on the manufacturing and charging plants, and our goal is to establish a plant in Karachi with the Chinese company," he added.
Malik Khuda Bakhsh also mentioned that 30 charging plants from China are expected to arrive in Pakistan in the coming days and will start being installed across the country. He expressed hope that by the end of this year, the required number of electric charging stations would be set up nationwide. He revealed that the first charging station had been established in Karachi and the second in Lahore, with initial results being positive.
Regarding investment, Malik Khuda Bakhsh shared that, in collaboration with the Chinese company, a total investment of 90 million US dollars would be made to establish 3,000 charging stations nationwide, while a manufacturing plant for electric vehicles would be set up with an investment of 240 million dollars. He stated that it is expected that by the end of this year, 1,000 charging stations will be installed across the country, and by December, the Chinese company will start manufacturing electric vehicles in Pakistan.
He concluded by mentioning that recently, during a visit to Pakistan, the CEO of ADM Group, Yasir Bhambani, announced that the company would manufacture 72,000 electric vehicles annually in Pakistan.
