Pakistani students shine at International Chemistry Olympiad

KARACHI: Pakistan team won bronze medal at 56th International Chemistry Olympiad (ICHO), held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Abdul Rafay from Karachi Grammar School earned bronze medal for Pakistan. Team members included Mahnoor Rashid (Lahore Grammar School, Wah Cantt), Marva (Punjab College for Women, Faisalabad) and Syed Mehir Ali Shah (Dubai International Public School and College, Mansehra). Team was trained at HEJ Research Institute of Chemistry, University of Karachi, under guidance of National Chemistry Talent Contest coordinator and senior professor of University of Karachi, Prof. M. Khalid Khan and Prof. Dr. M. Raza Shah. During meeting at International Centre for Chemical and Biological Sciences University of Karachi, Prof. Dr. M. Raza Shah and Prof. Dr. Khalid M. Khan congratulated students and acknowledged support of Higher Education Commission of Pakistan in enabling Pakistani students to participate in international chemistry competitions. Prof. Dr. Farzana Shaheen Head of ICCBS University Karachi, presided over meeting and praised students’ achievement.
