DUBAI: Pakistan's talented racing team Omni Racing performed superbly at Round 1 of the Dubai Endurance Karting Championship 2024 by finishing among top 15 teams and bagging a trophy.

This auspicious occasion marks the first time that any Pakistan racing team has brought home a trophy from an international racing event.

The racing quartet comprised Syed Ovais Naqvi (captain), Shahzeb Qureshi, Omer Khuhro, and Sanaan Jamali.

Syed Ovais Naqvi, the driving force behind OKC, said: "The racing experience was phenomenal, the team did exceptionally well given the level of competition we were facing and despite the lack of experience.

"All of the Omni Racing drivers were at par with each other throughout the entire race weekend from Ironman practice sessions to qualifying and over the course of the 12 hours race," said Ovais who is a former international circuit race driver.

"More importantly all of our drivers were within just 1 second of the top level higher placed teams.  To be able to arrive as a completely raw rookie team with 2 drivers who were racing at the Dubai Kartdrome for the first time and to manage to win a trophy and finish in the Top 15 overall is no easy feat."

All the other teams expressed their appreciation of our racing caliber and clean driving with 0 on track penalties and were extremely surprised by how well we competed and performed.

Omni Racing and this team of four now aim to participate in the entire championship by racing in the remaining 3 rounds and closing the gap between the other top teams.   "Omni Racing will keep flying the Pakistan flag high and make the nation and our public proud while the Omni Karting Circuit in Karachi keeps improving the facility and providing a platform that sets new benchmarks being the trailblazer in Pakistani Motorsports," concluded Ovais.
