President IIUI, HEC Chief discuss future plans

ISLAMABAD: Dr Hathal Homoud Alotaibi President International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) called on Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed, Chairman Higher Education Commission (HEC) and felicitated him on assuming charge.

During meeting, issues of mutual interest including initiatives for promotion of quality education and role of universities in society building were discussed. Meeting was also attended by Dr. N.B. Jumani, Vice President Administration and Finance IIUI.

Dr. Mukhtar on IIUI’s vision, future plans and strategy for academic excellence. IIUI President vowed that he will be in leading ranks for cooperation with HEC chief as per his aspirations for improvements in education sector. Dr. Hathal said that IIUI will be keen to enhance its bilateral ties with universities across world. Dr. Hathal also apprised him that university after transitional period, now all set for a new journey of success as it has completed its new strategic plan that he also presented to Chairman HEC. IIUI President also briefed him about University’s vision of digitisation and successful launch of its Open and Distance Learning system.

Chairman HEC said that he has special regard for scope and stature of IIUI. He told he has been member of its highest statutory body and University has potential to excel as one of best educational institutions in world. He desired that league of Islamic Universities must hold gatherings to form a consortium in light of OIC vision and IIUI must lead as a hub of this consortium. He thanked Custodian of Two Holy Masajid and Imam Muhammad Ibn-e-Saud University of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for continuous support of IIUI. He said that Saudi Arabia has a special place in hearts of Pakistanis.

Appreciating vision and future plans of IIU President, Dr. Mukhtar said he was happy to see that IIUI was heading towards right direction under leadership of a hard working president. He assured of maximum support saying role of HEC shall be all about facilitation and cooperation for all universities and positive steps will be encouraged.
