SHC orders for removal of encroachments on ‘9000 Road’ North Karachi

KARACHI: Commissioner Karachi has been ordered by Sindh High Court (SHC) to file his report within period of one month regarding removal of encroachments on 300 feet wide dual carriage way road named ‘9000 Road’ situated in Sector 6-A, North Karachi Industrial Area.

KDA has confirmed encroachment on road while Sindh Katchi Abadi Authority has also confirmed that it has not regularised any encroachment on that road and which under section 19 of Katchi Abadi Authority Act 1987, it cannot do. It is obvious that such encroachment cannot be permitted to continue, Court said.

In circumstances Court inclined to direct that Commissioner Karachi personally supervise removal of encroachment in conjunction with Pakistan Rangers, I.G. Police, Deputy Commissioner Karachi Central, Karachi Development Authority and all utility agencies so as to ensure that all encroachments on ‘9000 Road’ are removed.

Court Order said Commissioner Karachi first liaise with K-Electric, Sui Southern Gas Company Limited and Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation to ensure that all utilities that are connected to various encroachments on road are disconnected. I.G. Police Sindh and concerned SSP are directed to ensure that if there is any obstruction to implementation of this order that FIRs are registered as against such miscreants.

Anti-Encroachment Force, government of Sindh and Anti-Encroachment Force of Karachi Development Authority will work in conjunction with each other to demolish all constructions that are encroaching on road. As soon as encroachments are removed, construction of road shall forthwith commence without any delay by concerned authority so as to ensure that there is no lead time as between encroachments being removed and construction of road.

Deputy Commissioner Karachi Central shall ensure that schedule of demolition is provided to Pakistan Rangers Sindh well in advance to ensure that requisite numbers of personnel of Pakistan Rangers are made available to assist police to ensure that if law and order situation arise, it can be controlled.
