Arts Council Karachi comes forward to help flood victims

KARACHI: Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi has decided to take over management of Razaqabad Relief Camp for flood victims. So far more than 14 hundred victims have been shifted to Razaqabad Relief Camp which is managed by Arts Council, President of Arts Council Ahmad Shah said.

Provision of food, essential housing and medical facilities will be provided. An amount of Rs 10 million has been sanctioned for this purpose, but more money will be provided if required. This was decided in meeting of governing body of Arts Council held under chairmanship of President of Arts Council. Governing body also decided to suspend all programmes including Youth Festival and resettlement of flood victims and to shift programme of Niaz Halim, which was to be held at Arts Council on Saturday to September 3 to relief camp.  A male and a female doctor and paramedical staff have been deployed. We are cooking food supplied to victims in kitchen of Gul Rang Restaurant under our supervision, he said. Retired Executive Director Nadeem Zafar was appreciated for his services during last ten years and governing body paid tribute to him.
