Hyderabad: Pakistan Peoples’ Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari vowed that he will ensure approval of constitutional amendment with two-thirds majority.

Addressing public gathering here, he said, “Maulana Fazlur Rehman can take Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf on board. We would like to do legislation by joining hands with all political parties.”

Bilawal Bhutto said that he will be compelled to take “Controversial path” for passage of 26th constitutional amendment if opposition parties refused to support his efforts to pass judicial package with consensus.

“I myself making last attempt to convince opposition parties to vote for constitutional amendment in non-controversial way,” he said.

He said if he failed to evolve consensus on proposed constitutional amendment “Then we all have to pray for country’s democracy”. “If opposition still refuses to support us despite so many compromises then I will be compelled to pass amendment with support of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and extra members,” he said.

Highlighting the ‘historic’ verdicts of Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa, the PPP chairman said that he even accepted their demand that the top judge should not be given extension.

“CJP Isa provided justice to Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto,” he said, adding that no other judge could dare to give such a verdict which he gave after hearing the ‘Faizabad Dharna case’.

“Justice Qazi Faez Isa sahib! the nation salutes you.”

At outset of his speech, he paid tribute to martyrs of Karsaz tragedy, saying, “Today, we are recalling date of October 18, 2007. Masses have made Hyderabad gathering historic one.”

“JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman for last time tonight in Islamabad,” he stated. “I will return from Islamabad following formation of constitutional bench. Democracy will be at stake if efforts of establishing Constitution go in vain,” he stated.

Bilawal Bhutto said, “We will be compelled to do legislation if opposition does not extend support despite compromises.” “I will present draft of constitutional amendment at National Assembly myself,” he said.

Speaking about former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, Bhutto said, “Benazir Bhutto had come to establish rule of masses by toppling dictator. Benazir had returned to country with ideology and manifesto.”

“Reason that Benazir Bhutto came was to ensure to fulfill basic amenities of masses,” he added.

Moreover, Bilawal expressed optimism about getting support of JUI-F Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman in line with constitutional amendment.

Expressing his thoughts during PPP’s joint parliamentary meeting with draft of constitutional amendment, he said, “We will do legislation through our powers. It is good thing that this will be last weekend here in Islamabad.”
