KARACHI: Dr. Asim Hussain, a senior leader of the Pakistan Peoples’ Party, has spearheaded a robust drive in District Central to eliminate illegal constructions. His initiative has brought together stakeholders from various political parties, law enforcement agencies, and government departments in a unified effort to tackle this issue.

Dr. Asim’s commitment to District Central’s development is well-established. He has previously played a key role in leading development initiatives in the area, with the aim of transforming it into one of Karachi’s model districts.

Through his efforts, political parties have put aside their differences and are working together to eradicate illegal constructions. The message is clear: zero tolerance for violators. This joint effort is a significant step towards maintaining the rule of law and ensuring that District Central develops in a planned and sustainable manner.

The Deputy Commissioner of District Central, Taha Saleem, chaired a meeting of the District Demolition Committee yesterday. The meeting was attended by representatives from various political parties, including Pakistan Peoples’ Party, MQM, and Jamaat-e-Islami, as well as senior officials from law enforcement agencies and the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA).

During the meeting, the Director of District Central and SBCA’s Demolition Director provided a briefing on the demolition process.

Moreover, important decisions were taken regarding demolition, emphasizing the need to prevent the reconstruction of unauthorized buildings. The Deputy Commissioner stressed that active civil society engagement can prevent illegal constructions.

The SSP District Central Zeeshan Siddiqui warned that strict action would be taken against officials, including DSPs, if illegal constructions continue. Two SHOs were removed during the operation, and DSPs were cautioned to ensure no further unauthorized construction occurs.

MQM’s MPA Adil Askari praised the efforts of the Deputy Commissioner and SSP.

PPP’s District President Sardar Khan assured full support for the operation, while MPA Maaz Mehboob raised concerns about alleged corruption in SBCA and called for accountability. The meeting underscored the commitment to enforcing building regulations and maintaining the infrastructure of District Central.

It is pertinent to mention here that Dr. Asim Hussain’s leadership has fostered a spirit of cooperation among stakeholders, demonstrating that collective action can drive meaningful change.  His vision for a developed and organized District Central is inspiring a new era of collaboration and progress.

By working together, the people of District Central can look forward to a brighter future, free from the scourge of illegal constructions.
