KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah in meeting with delegation of Pakistan Business Council (PBC) led by Shabir Diawan said that he was working hard to resolve all issues of industrialists with provincial government on priority basis and even with federal government through close coordination.

Minister Industries Jam Ikram Dharejo, Secretary to CM Raheem Shaikh, Secretary Industries Yasin Shar, and Secretary Finance Fayaz Jatoi. PBC delegation members include Zeelaf Munir, Ehsan Malik, Arif Habib, Ziad Bashir and Samir Amir were present.

CM stated that in order to promote industrial growth and employment and strengthen economy, he was working towards bolstering existing trade and industry and attracting more investment by providing them with all necessary facilities. He emphasised that this was key to strengthening economy and creating job opportunities.

Pakistan Business Council proposed to Chief Minister to reduce infrastructure cess from 1.8 percent to 1.2 percent. CM assured delegation that he would review request and directed Secretary of Finance to propose his suggestion

During meeting, visiting delegation raised concerns about increasing power tariff and its adverse impact on industrial sector.

They suggested announcement of package for industrial sector. In response, CM mentioned positive indicators in economy and recent reduction in interest rates.

He proposed that federal government offer special power rates for industries that implement special night shifts, which would create more jobs and boost production. CM and PBC office bearers agreed to hold another meeting to further discuss their issues and devise plan to address them.
