Flour prices rise sharply in Peshawar, PM directs steps to control hike

PESHAWAR: Flour price has jumped to over Rs 142 per kilogram in KP after an increase in rates of wheat, it emerged. According to Flour Dealers Association, price of 20 kg flour bag has surged by Rs 450 in two weeks. 20 kg flour bag is being sold in Peshawar at Rs 2,850, which was being sold at Rs 2,400, just two weeks earlier.

 Association further said that price of 100 kg wheat bag has reached Rs 10,000 to Rs 12,000. It is expected that flour price might shoot up more due to hoarding.

 Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif directed authorities concerned to take immediate measures to control prices of wheat and flour in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa besides increasing supply from Punjab province.

Prime Minister issued directives while chairing meeting to review procurement and supply and demand of wheat in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

 During meeting, PM Shehbaz while taking notice of price hike of wheat and flour in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province directed relevant authorities to take immediate measures to control it, besides increasing supply from Punjab province.
