KARACHI: Governor Sindh Kamran Khan Tessori has praised Akhuwat Foundation and its founder Dr. Amjad Saqib, calling them a "ray of light in darkness". Speaking at a fundraising ceremony at the Governor House, Tessori acknowledged that Dr. Saqib's work has made a significant impact, solving problems for 3 crore people with Rs 300 billion. However, he noted that 21 crore people still face unresolved issues.

Tessori emphasized the need for wealthy individuals to contribute to the needy, suggesting that allocating just 10% of their wealth could eradicate poverty in Pakistan. He also highlighted the country's economic struggles, including IMF debt and rising crime rates.

The Governor commended Dr. Saqib's achievements, including providing loans to 6 million families and educating 15,000 students without fees. He also donated Rs 2 million to the Akhuwat Foundation.

Tessori said that the fact 25 crore children do not go to school is a matter of concern. Among the children who go to school, a large number of them do not have breakfast at home in the morning. He said that behind every success there is a woman's hand, its practical form was seen in the form of providing the first loan of Rs 10,000 to a woman under the Akhuwat Foundation.

Dr. Amjad Saqib shared the foundation's journey, from its humble beginnings with Rs 10,000 to its current reach of 800 offices and 8,000 workers. He expressed gratitude for the support and encouraged continued donations to support the foundation's mission.

Dr Amjad Saqib while terming Karachiites, people with 'a big heart' said that Akhuwat will also open more than 100 branches across Karachi in near future to help the masses and for empowering the people who possess all capabilities but unfortunately fail to achieve their aims due to financial constraints.

Addressing the ceremony, Founder and Chairman of Akhuwat Foundation Dr. Muhammad Amjad, said that the journey that started with Rs 10,000 has now reached Rs 3 trillion and 6 million families. 300,000 people have joined our journey and the loan repayment rate is 99.9 percent.

The event concluded with Dr. Amjad Saqib presenting a shield to Governor Tessori, recognizing his support for the Akhuwat Foundation's endeavors.
