KARACHI: Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori suggested a law should be enacted to resolve issues of construction industry. “It is not fair to punish builders, investors and allottees for any wrongdoing of any government department for which Association of Builders and Developers (ABAD) should take initiative and that stern action should be taken against land grabbers.”

Addressing meeting at ABAD House Governor said that businessmen, traders, builders and developers in Karachi are facing number of problems. Any building in Karachi is razed on an order of Supreme Court of Pakistan and letter of Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA), he said. Enactment of new law in inevitable to solve issues like Nasla Tower and for that ABAD should take initiative so that Sindh Assembly could pass law.

He said that SBCA is issuing NOC to Behria Town within fifteen days and SBCA is bound to issue NOC within fifteen days in Karachi, too. It is good that SBCA is issuing NOCs to ABAD members and it has issued almost 270 NOCs. He warned land grabbers to stop their activities or get out of country. Tessori said that he himself will take action against land grabbers at midnight if necessary.

Chairman ABAD Altaf Tai said that we have new hope in Governor Tessori because he understands construction industry. He said that if last Governor would have signed summery to regularise buildings, Nasla Tower would have been standing at this moment. He said that we demand common policy across country as NOC in Punjab is very easy to get but in Sindh it is like crossing Himalaya.  He requested Governor to take steps to get approved remaining NOCs as soon as early because SBCA has issued only 120 NOCs during last one year. He said that no slums should be in Karachi as it is cosmopolitan city.

He demanded to curtail cartelisation of construction materials like cement and steel. Chairman Southern Region Raheel Rinch host programme and Vice Chairman Nadeem Jeewa thanked distinguished guest. Vice Chairman Nadeem Jeewa, Vice Chairman Hyderabad Sub Region Faraz Memon, former Chairmen Hanif Memon, Fayyaz Ilyas, Junaid Ashraf Taloo, Maulana Bashir Farooqi, SBCA officials and number of ABAD members were present.
