IG Sindh summons meeting over rising street crimes

KARACHI: Inspector-General (IG) of Police Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon summoned an emergency meeting over rising street crimes in Karachi. According to reports, IG Sindh has summoned relevant police officials Additional Inspector-General office in metropolis over rising street crimes.

All police officials are directed to attend meeting. Meeting will discuss rising incidents of killings in robbery resistance while matter of installation of cameras in police uniforms will also come under discussion. Zonal Deputy Inspector-Generals and DIG CIA will Ghulam Nabi Memon on city's current situation. Details regarding arrest of criminals and drug peddlers was also sought. Meanwhile, heads of all specialised units will also submit performance reports to IG Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon. Sstreet crime witnessed a sharp increase in Karachi as almost 263 incidents were reported daily in city, stated a report issued by Citizens-Police Liaison Committee.

According to report issued by CPLC, almost 263 incidents were reported daily basis in month of August, showing that law enforcement agencies have failed to overcome criminal activities in metropolis. Earlier on September 5, three station house officers of Sindh police in Karachi were suspended over their alleged failure to control street crime.
