Intensity of ‘Biparjoy ‘cyclone increases, alert issue on Karachi Port

KARACHI: Alerts has been issued on Karachi Port in view of heading ‘Biparjoy’ cyclone in Arabian Sea. Article-144 imposed on Karachi Coast.

According Meteorology Department 8 to 10 feet high waves can occur on Karachi Coast due to cyclone. Fishermen were stopped to go into sea.

Chief Meteorologist Sarfraz told cyclone is 770 km away from south coast of Karachi and 750 km away from south of Thatta. Cyclone ‘Biparjoy’ is at distance of 860 km from east of Ormara.

He said biparjoy has become ‘very severe storm’ and becoming more intense.

This cyclone system is heading toward north, speed of air in centre of this system is 140 to 160km/hour. Waves of 30 to 40 meters are rising in centre and sides of this system. On other side people are present on coast despite ban and imposition of article-144. Fishermen are also present in sea on their boats.
