Karachi mayor to be elected through show of hands, govt tells ECP

KARACHI: Sindh government informed Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) that mayor of Karachi will be elected through show of hands. Clarification from Sindh government comes after Election Commission had asked Local Government Ministry to inform election body about Karachi mayor election process.

Government said that mayor election will take place through show of hands method in as per Sindh Local Government Amendment Act. Earlier, Election Commission announced schedule of mayor and deputy mayor election in Sindh.

Election of mayor and deputy mayor will take place on June 15 while nomination paper can be submitted by June 9-10.
