Islamabad: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has issued orders to freeze a total of 10,468 commercial plots owned by Bahria Town Karachi. These instructions were delivered by the Director-General (DG) of NAB, Javed Akbar Riaz, after an investigation that uncovered significant evidence of corruption.

According to NAB, the investigation revealed that Bahria Town, its owner Malik Riaz, and his associates, including Ahmad Ali Riaz, Zain Malik, Shahid Qureshi, Faisal Qureshi, Mohammad Awais, Wasim Rifat, and Waqas Rifat were involved in widespread corrupt practices. The inquiry found that these individuals had engaged in illegal activities linked to land acquisition and allotment. Moreover, the NAB’s investigation had disclosed that Malik Riaz and his associates had, through collusion, illegally acquired over 16,000 acres of land in Malir.

The bureau stated that the Malir Development Authority (MDA) had unlawfully allotted this land, which added to the scope of the investigation. The NAB Sindh office confirmed that all commercial plots under Bahria Town’s ownership had been frozen, and no further transfer or allotment would be allowed. In addition, NAB’s latest actions came after the bureau collected further evidence, supporting claims of additional land encroachments by Bahria Town, outside of the initially allocated plots.
