ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Interior Minister Sarfraz Bugti confirmed that sub-committee has placed names of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan and other leaders on Exit Control List (ECL).

Talking to private TV channel, interim Interior Minister confirmed that names of PTI leaders could be placed on ECL. He detailed that National Accountability Bureau had provided names of PTI leaders in Al-Qadir Trust case.

“Sub-committee has already placed PTI Chairman and other leaders’ names on ECL, however, final approval would be given by Cabinet.”

Regarding general elections scheduled for February 8, 2024, Bugti said that legal procedures would be followed to address complaints against Election Commission of Pakistan.

“All political parties are respectable for us and we will ensure transparent polls. Caretaker government would provide maximum assistance following ECP directives.”

He alleged that some past rulers had attempted to settle Taliban in Pakistan. Commenting over counter-terrorism steps, Sarfraz Bugti said that terrorism was still major challenge for Pakistan since 2008.

He said that organisation of general elections in secure environment was top priority of caretaker government.
