Karachi: Senior Minister Sindh Sharjeel Memon said that Peoples’ Party will achieve significant success in Senate elections. With 9 members, how will they secure Senate seats? Their decision not to withdraw from election indicates their active participation.

Speaking to media at Sindh Assembly Media Corner, he said that government and Department of Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control are conducting crackdown throughout Sindh, resulting in significant success in seven or eight cases. Immediately after Eid, government will provide relief to people not only in Karachi but all over Sindh.

He pointed out that Imran Khan, who spent only four to five months in jail, suddenly recalls importance of freedom of judiciary.  However, when Shaheed Bibi approached judiciary, it supported unconstitutional and illegal actions. Additionally, President Asif Ali Zardari was unjustly incarcerated for 11 years without evidence.

Furthermore, when Saqib Nisar implemented judicial activism and judicial martial law, there was also lack of concern for freedom of judiciary.

He questioned what mistreatment Imran Khan has faced when he continues to meet with his ministers, advisors and cabinet members, receiving VVIP treatment.  He said that those who advocate for freedom of judiciary should explain which clause of Pakistan’s constitution or law permits receipt of illegal foreign funding from countries like India and Israel by political parties.

He emphasised that government is committed to tackling drugs and street crimes. Protecting life and property of every citizen is government’s duty. He stated that they have successfully intercepted arms and drugs from entering Sindh, indicating their seriousness in maintaining law and order.
