SFA, KU team impose fine of Rs300,000 on restaurants, bakeries on poor sanitation

KARACHI: A joint team comprising of Sindh Food Authority officials and students of Karachi University visited more than 30 restaurants, bakeries and other food centres. Joint team was formed on special direction of Director General Sindh Food Authority Agha Fakhar Hussain.

Team imposed fines of Rs 300,000 over poor sanitation situation and non-availability of medical certificates of staff. Team asked these restaurants, bakeries and other food centres to get license from SFA within 15 days positively. Meanwhile, in statement Agha Fakhar Hussain said that no compromise will be made on quality of food staff and those who are engaged in manufacturing and sale of food stuff must take care of basic hygiene principles, in case of violation, action will be taken against them according to Sindh Food Authority Act.
