KARACHI: Sindh High Court (SHC) heard petition of MQM-P seeking empowerment of Local Government system in Sindh. A High Court bench heard petition filed by Faisal Sabzwari, Kanwar Naveed and other leaders of party.

Bench expressed annoyance over failure of Secretary Local Government Sindh to submit reply on court notice. Additional Secretary of department appeared before court in case. Court directed government lawyer to submit reply in next hearing at any cost. Additional Secretary LG assured bench of submitting government reply in next hearing. Bench adjourned further hearing of case until December 20.

MQM-P submitted petition in court for implementation of Supreme Court order with regard to empowerment of LG in Sindh.

Sindh High Court on Friday in its written verdict over petitions filed by Jamaat-e-Islami and PTI ordered Election Commission of Pakistan to immediately release schedule for LG polls in Karachi and Hyderabad.
