Trade from Pakistan in local currency possible, says Malaysian CG

Karachi: Consul General of Malaysia Karachi Harman Hardaynta bin Ahmed said that more than 10 thousand Pakistani products are included in list of free trade agreements while 6 thousand products have been added by Malaysia. However, 10 new items are being registered in Pakistani products, with salt at top. Trade in local currency is also possible from Pakistan.

On visit to Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI) Consul General added that negotiations on salt were held several times but no agreement was reached. There are 44 agreements between educational institutions, but no agreement has been signed at government level. There is demand for meat and poultry products in Malaysia. KATI’s trade delegation will promote joint trade.

KATI President Faraz-ur-Rehman said that Pakistan Malaysia gets its edible salt from Australia while Pakistan has best salt in world. He said that agricultural products can also be exported from Pakistan, while two countries should also review other products besides traditional products.

Chairman of Standing Committee Rashid Siddiqui said that exporters of both countries are not fully aware of opportunities. Muslim Muhammadi, Vice Chairman of Standing Committee and Vice President of KATI said that willing to take KATI’s trade delegation to Malaysia after Ramadhan. Senior Vice President Nighat Awan, former presidents Syed Farukh Mazher, Sheikh Fazle Jalil were present.
