Karachi: Sindh government wrote letter to National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to deploy Armed Forces in aid of civil administration for relief and rescue operations in Sindh.

According to details, Director of Operations has written a letter to NDMA to deploy Armed Forces in Flood-affected areas of Sindh. Government has demanded deployment of Armed forces to aid civil administration in relief and rescue operations, letter said.

‘It is requested that armed forces may kindly be approached to coordinate with Authority/DDMA for further deployment of troops,’ letter read. letter urges NDMA to treat matter as ‘most urgent’  in larger public interest. Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said that province has received around 500 percent more rainfall than its monsoonal average. Addressing a press conference in Sukkur, chief minister stated that “situation in Sindh is more critical than floods of 2010-11”.

CM Murad said that a high-level flood will be entering Guddu Barrage by tonight, whereas a flood with more intensity would pass through Sukkur Barrage by Tuesday.
