KARACHI: Advisor to Sindh Chief Minister for Cooperative Department, Ehsan-ur-Rehman Mazari is failed to take any action against Registrar of Co-operative Societies, Sindh for patronizing unscrupulous elements of Karimabad Ismailia Multipurpose Cooperative Society Ltd. ST-2 (KIMCSL) and Karimabad Cooperative Housing Society Ltd. ST-3 (KCHSL) Committee in corruption, misappropriation of funds and other unlawful activities.

Residents and Members of KCHSL ST3 and KIMCSL ST2 in a joint statement and letter had requested the Advisor to take urgent action against incumbent Secretary Imran Arwan Punjwani and ex-Secretary Irfan Arwan Punjwani the two criminal brothers and blacklist them. Both of them had committed electoral frauds, illegal transfer of properties on their name, abuse of powers, illegal renting of open spaces for weddings, selling flats/ shops of deceased persons without auction and misappropriation of Society’s funds in the garb of CCTV installation, investment in NSD programmes besides non-depositing of receipts in Society’s account.

According to complainants Panjwani brothers have also started illegal construction of a flats complex for minting money without any advance approval from SBCA through an unknown and unregistered building contractor. They have not declared any official approved site plan, estimated cost of construction of the project and completion date. Official approved plan of 1998 was only for four-story building but these illegitimate officials of the Committee who have already kicked out the elected Chairman, they have amazingly announced to build eight-story flats complex which is quite illegal and dangerous for the habitats.

The residents had urged the Advisor Mazari to order for forensic audit of Society’s accounts under these criminals. Residents said that NSD Room which no longer exists but was constructed on vacant land owned by Charitable Trust. But so far there was no response received from Advisor office.

Aggrieved residents had urged to dissolve the current managing committee and conduct fresh elections by black-listing these two who were part of this committee for past 8-10 years.

The residents alleged the government officials of Registrar office have been involved in direct and indirect corruption with other members of the managing committee which may include but not limited to monetary gains, illegal use of power and their position to intimidate the residents and members of the said society.
