Neglected Complaints at Azizabad Police Station, Residents Fearful

KARACHI: Karimabad Ismailia Multipurpose Cooperative Society Ltd residents have alleged that Azizabad Police Station is continuously ignoring their complaints. They say that written applications were submitted multiple times, and the incoming SHO was informed about previous complaints as well as illegal activities in the society, yet the police have taken no serious action.

Shehzad Jaleel, Shamshir Qureshi, and Baba Jan are accused of being involved in threats and hooliganism. They also spread abusive language and threats on social media, frightening local residents. According to the residents, these individuals are supported by Imran Arwan, Secretary of Karimabad Society. Despite the increasing incidents of threats and fights, the police do not take effective action and often let the accused go.

Fayyaz, Inspector at Azizabad Police Station, calls the victims and records their complaints, but no real legal action is taken. Complaints are collected under the name of paperwork, and the victims are sent back after being reassured, even though their safety is not seriously considered. It seems that the authorities are only interested in paperwork. The victims say that so far, no video has been provided and no report of any action has been shared, showing that all these procedures are just for show and no real action is being taken.

Victims said that the accused often use MLO reports, allegedly with police collusion, to avoid legal action. Surprisingly, no MLO report has been officially filed for any of the incidents so far. Moreover, with the support of the society’s secretary, the accused are often protected from the police and released under the names of society employees or workers, even though the police have never verified whether these individuals are actually society staff or not.

As a result of this situation, fear and anxiety are increasing in the area, and residents feel unsafe. The victims say that if the police and relevant authorities do not take immediate and effective action, the situation could get worse. The society’s members have requested SSP District Central Zeeshan Siddiqui and IG Sindh to ensure that Azizabad Police Station takes prompt action so that residents can get justice.
