Court accepts acquittal pleas of Imran Khan, Mehmood Qureshi

ISLAMABAD: District and Sessions Court has given relief to PTI founder Imran Khan and Shah Mehmood Qureshi in case registered in Karachi Company Police Station.

Their acquittal pleas have been accepted.  Acquittal pleas of PTI founder, Zartaj Gul, Ali Nawaz Awan and Faisal Javed have been accepted in one other case. Acquittal plea of Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Khurram Nawaz, Shireen Mazari Saif Ullah Niazi and Asad Umar has been accepted. Judicial Magistrate Mureed Abbas announced reserved decision on acquittal plea.

  Earlier Judicial Magistrate reserved judgment on acquittal pleas of Imran Khan and other leaders in cases registered in Karachi Company Police Station against them. Judicial Magistrate Mureed Abbas Khan heard acquittal pleas of Imran Khan, Faisal Javed, Ali Nawaz Awan, Saifullah Niazi, Zartaj Gul and Asad Umar Monday.  Counsels Naeem Panjutha, Sardar Masroof and Amna Ali appeared in court and gave arguments on acquittal pleas.  Asad Umar, Saifullah Niazi appeared in court. Exemption pleas of Faisal Javed and Zrtaj Gul were filed. Counsel Naeem Panjutha said Imran Khan is facing allegation of section 109 that it was done at his behest. Authority to register case lies with person who imposed section 144.  Naeem Panjotha argued FIR was got registered by unauthorised person.  How can case go ahead of which base is wrong.  He argued that even no video evidence could be presented to extent of Imran Khan. FIRs were registered on peaceful protest too. Sardar Masroof while giving arguments said registration of FIR by incompetent authority is against law. Case cannot be run on against law FIR. Order of Islamabad High Court is there.
