Tarar rules out unilateral legislation for establishment of Digital Media Authority

 ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar said that government had no intention of unilateral legislation regarding establishment of Digital Media Authority in country.

“All journalist organisations and press clubs will be taken into confidence on matter”, Attaullah Tarar said while talking to delegation of National Press Club which met him here. He assured NPC delegation that health insurance scheme for journalists would be started soon. He said that necessary steps would be taken for construction of permanent building of NPC and improvement of existing building. He assured that provision of annual grant for NPC will be ensured.

Government was well aware of problems of administration of National Press Club regarding improvement of National Press Club, he remarked. Government intended to ensure continuous grant provision to NPC, he said adding he will meet Finance Minister and discuss issue of annual grant allocation for Press Club in financial budget. President Azhar Jatoi said that government should solve problems of Press Club on priority. He said that journalists were facing many challenges in present era. Acting Secretary NPC Aun Shirazi said Media Town Phase II was very important for journalistic community of Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
