Karachi: Atif Ikram Sheikh President FPCCI apprised that FPCCI and Scottish Chambers of Commerce (SCC) will tangibly enhance their cooperation to promote trade, investments, joint ventures and broader economic relations. He reiterated fact that Pakistani diaspora in Scotland is already very strong and Pakistan stands great chance to up-scale its commercial and business interests with Scotland.

Dr. Jeanette Forbes Ambassador of Scottish Chambers for Pakistan visited FPCCI Head Office to present her plan to prominent business personalities’ vis-à-vis trade promotion between two counterparts, he added.

Saquib Fayyaz Magoon SVP FPCCI maintained that FPCCI is looking forward to Scottish investment and cooperation in infrastructure development, renewable energy, water resource management, financial services, food and beverages, healthcare services and retailing ventures.

Saquib Fayyaz Magoon continued that in return, Pakistan offers prospect of reducing Scotland’s cost of doing business through skilled, abundant and cost-effective workforce; business process outsourcing and facilitation in sourcing competitive products and services.

Mirza Ikhtiar Baig, former SVP FPCCI, stressed that FPCCI remains unwavering in its commitment to forge productive, reciprocal business relationships with SCC. It firmly believes in power of strong alliances to support and promote trade activities for mutual advancement of our nations, he added.

Dr. Jeanette Forbes Ambassador of Scottish Chambers of Commerce for Pakistan highlighted that Scottish Chambers of Commerce at heart of Scotland’s business network, represents over 12,000 companies and more than 50 percent of private-sector workforce.

She added that noteworthy collaboration between SCC and FPCCI was formalised through memorandum of understanding on September 26, 2022-aiming to strengthen trade cooperation. Despite this, there remains much work to be done in areas such as export promotion; foreign direct investment, joint ventures and business-to-business linkages. Forbes specifically emphasised on tourism, hospitality and cultural avenues in Scotland and, how it can play pivotal role in promotion of people-to-people; business-to-business and, on macro-level, chamber-to-chamber linkages. We are looking forward to working with FPCCI for its being apex body of Pakistan’s entire business, industry and trade community, she added.
