London: Sri Lanka stalwart Chamari Athapaththu added another feather to her crown with historic maiden win in Women’s Asia Cup 2024 over seven-time champions India in July.

This triumph was yet another feat under her leadership in last 12 months. England and South Africa and securing their qualification for ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024. Smriti Mandhana India is nominated for ICC Women’s Player of Month award for back-to-back months after winning the honour for June 2024. Opener continued her prolific run into July, beginning with career-best 149 in one-off Test against South Africa.  India’s other regular opener, Shafali Verma is third nominee for July. Right-handed batter scored 229 Test runs and 245 T20I runs in the period. Some of her memorable performances in tournament included quickfire 40 from 29 which helped set chase against arch-rivals Pakistan and career-best 81 from 48, with 12 fours and six against Nepal.
