IHC dismisses case pertaining to violation of Coronavirus SOPS against medical students

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) has ordered to dismiss case pertaining to violation of Coronavirus SOPs and section 144 against medical students. Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri announced decision on student’s plea. Court also mentioned reasons for dismissal of case in its 6-page written decision.

Court wrote in decision that students are charged with chanting antigovernment slogans and violating coronavirus SOPs during protest. Case against students was registered in Kohsar Police Station on report of operator Muntazar and at time of registration of case government officer or his subordinate who enforces coronavirus SOPs and section 144 was not present.

FIR cannot be registered under section 195-1/A if government officer is not present. Court ordered that FIR registered in Police Station Kohsaron on July 6, 2022 under report of Muntazar be dismissed.
