ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) instructed Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad to produce missing citizen Haseeb Hamza by Wednesday 11:30 am after recovering him.

Chief Justice remarked that citizen was listed from this court’s jurisdiction and it would summon every responsible and held them accountable if Chief Commissioner ICT and IGP failed to produce citizen.

Chief Justice Athar Minallah heard case filed by Zulifqar Ali, father of missing citizen.

Petitioner’s lawyer adopted stance that Hamza was lifted from his home on August 22, by unknown people in uniform. Police registered an FIR on complaint but couldn’t recover him so far, he said.

Court held a recession and summoned IGP Akbar Nasir who appeared before it as hearing resumed. IGP said that FIR was registered on last day about missing citizen.

Court said that this practice couldn’t be tolerated, adding that it had already given a judgment in missing persons’ case and court would move according to it. Expressing concern, court noted that incident was taken place on August 22, but FIR was registered on September 12. Court also summoned officials of sensitive institutions in personal capacity along with Chief Commissioner ICT and IGP today.

Chief Justice remarked that legal action should have been taken against citizen if he had committed any offence. After this, hearing of case was adjourned till Wednesday 11:30 am.
