More than 10m people have been affected by rains in Sindh: Hina Dastagir

Hyderabad: More than ten million people have been affected by rains in Sindh, Hina Dastagir MPA PPP and Head of Shaheed Benazir Youth Development Programme said in concluding ceremony of five-day electronic media workshop here. She said that government has now started a rehabilitation program to provide relief of victims.

She assured that government will continue to help victims until their full recovery. Hina stated that her own village is submerged in water. It is a natural disaster that has affected Sindh most and the government alone cannot do anything with a disaster of this magnitude, said Dastagir. She assured that in first phase, Rs 25,000 has been provided under Benazir Income Support Programme.

Later she distributed certificates among participants. Students from major universities of city associated with journalism participated in training programme. Workshop ‘Climate Change, Floods and Role of Media: Reporting and Coverage of Human Suffering’ was arranged by Women Media Centre Pakistan in collaboration with National Endowment for Democracy USA.
