Nasir Shah claims PPP seats increased ahead of Karachi mayor's election

KARACHI: Sindh Local Government Minister Nasir Hussain Shah claimed that PPP seats have increased ahead of mayor election in Karachi'. As per details, PPP leader Nasir Shah said in tweet that number of PPP members in KMC has reached 105 for mayor elections.

He said that IHC modified its order regarding LG elections where JI had challenged results in six constituencies. Earlier, Election Commission of Pakistan announced schedule of mayor and deputy mayor election in Sindh.

Election of mayor and deputy mayor will take place on June 15 while nomination paper can be submitted by June 9-10. ECP schedule stated that Returning Officer will check nomination papers on June 11 and finalized list of candidates will be released on June 14.

He said that ECP has already announced schedule of May and deputy mayor election in Karachi and we are fully prepared to contest and we will win. He said that mayor slot suits PPP candidate.

On June 16, Returning Officers will announce results whereas successful candidates will take oath on June 19.

Furthermore, ECP spokesperson said that if independent candidates want to join party they can join till May 24 and they have to submit an oath to Returning Officer, stating that they are joining party of their free will and without any pressure.
