Pakistan promises to become one of fastest-growing economies: CM Murad

KARACHI: Pakistan promises to become one of fastest-growing economies and with development of infrastructure, investment in energy, education, vocational training and rapidly improving healthcare, we are poised to take off and compete alongside rest of world.

Addressing 18-member delegation of Foreign Service Academy Islamabad’s participants of Junior Diplomatic Course for Foreign Diplomats here Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said that Sindh is passing through one of most challenging times of its history and it was quite explicit from unprecedented and heavy torrential rains that occurred in July and August.  Replying to a question, CM said that his government took relief and rescue operations. “Major relief items like tents, ration bags and mosquito nets have been provided to people living in flood-affected areas,” he said.

He said that Karachi is financial hub and port city of Pakistan and it is world’s seventh largest city. “Industry and business success are fundamentally dependent on two key criteria, connectivity and access to commercial centres that make Sindh, including Karachi and its surrounding areas an ideal business destination,” he said. To a question Murad Ali Shah said his government is establishing Special Economic Zones over an area of 1,530 acres at Dhabeji, priority project under China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.

He pointed out that project would be ready in couple of years to attract industrial output of millions of dollars and about 100,000 jobs. CM disclosed that federal government has approved two new economic zones on recommendation of Sindh Investment-Naushero Feroze Industrial Park, project of federal government being developed by National Industrial Park and Bhulari Special Economic Zone- Pakistan’s first private sector SEZ.  Khairpur SEZ has already been completed and industrial units were being setup on priority. 

Minister Information Sharjeel Memon, Special Assistant to CM Qasim Naveed, Chief Secretary Sohail Rajput, IG Police Ghulam Nabi Memon, Home Secretary Saeed Mangnijo and Secretary to CM Rahim Shaikh besides foreign diplomats led by FSA, Islamabad Director Irfan Shaukat, and Programme Officer Muhammad Amin attended meeting.
