KARACHI: Azizabad police station is facing serious allegations as citizens claim that despite complaints and evidence, police officials openly maintain ties with criminals and provide protection for illegal activities. Residents say the police are more focused on financial interests instead of protecting the lives and property of citizens. Even with court-ordered protection, the accused remain active and continue to harass the victims.

In this context, aftab hussain, a member of Karimabad ismailia society, was attacked near his house. FIR No. 591/24 was registered at Azizabad police station under Sections 337-A(i) and 337-U(i). The case was filed Muhammad nazim, ASI, Duty officer on the basis of the medico-legal report from Abbasi shaheed hospital, during the tenure of former SHO Amir at Azizabad police station.

Interestingly, the FIR revealed that the duty officer did not include imran arwan’s name, even though aftab hussain stated that the attack was carried out by moiz under his supervision. Due to alleged police negligence and the failure of Investigation Officer hassan ali, the accused moiz easily secured bail.

It is important to mention that on May 7, 2023, the Registrar cooperative societies sindh conducted fake elections in Karimabad society and made imran arwan the secretary, bringing him forward to take part in the society’s illegal constructions. It should be noted that the same person who once ran a cable and internet business is now active in the construction field, while members continue to raise their voices against these illegal activities.

Regular gatherings and meetings are held at the police station with imran arwan, and in some cases, the station itself hosts him. The main organizer of this hospitality is said to be Sub-Inspector chaudhry tasadduq hussain, who is also known to be his close friend. This situation has further strengthened concerns that the police are openly backing lawbreakers, sources said.

Residents are still raising their voices against illegal constructions and other unlawful activities, but strong efforts are being made to silence them. At the same time, imran arwan continues his acts of intimidation and threats. The affected members have appealed to SSP District central, Zeeshan siddiqui, IG Sindh, and law enforcement agencies to dismiss the police officers who support imran arwan and ignore court orders, so that citizens can be protected from further harassment and justice can prevail.
