KARACHI: Sindh High Court (SHC) issued directive instructing federal government to ensure comprehensive security measures for PTI founder at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi.

Court emphasised its impartial stance, asserting that it adjudicates matters strictly in accordance with law, irrespective of individual involved, whether it be Imran Khan or PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif.

Division bench of SHC, presided over by Chief Justice Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi and Justice Mobeen Lakho, deliberated on an application seeking heightened security for PTI founder.

Deputy Attorney General Khaleeq Ahmed while filing comments on behalf of federal government adopted stance that Centre had issued directives to Punjab government to increase security at Adiala Jail and provide foolproof security to Imran Khan. He said federal government had not only issued orders but was also monitoring entire situation.

He added that PTI’s plea did not fall within ambit of SHC and that applicant should approach Lahore High Court Rawalpindi Bench.

Applicant Wahab Baloch’s counsel Ghuma Mohiyuddin Advocate argued that sensitive state institutions had expressed their concern about security at Adiala Jail, adding that terrorists along with weapons were also apprehended outside prison. He stated that federation bore responsibility of guaranteeing security of PTI founder.
