CAIRO: At least 34,488 Palestinians have been martyred and 77,643 were injured in Israel’s military offensive on Gaza since October 7, statement by Gaza’s Health Ministry said. Some 34 were killed and 68 injured in last 24 hours, statement added.

On other hand, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry said that Egypt was hopeful about proposal for truce and hostage release in Gaza Strip but that it was waiting for response on proposal from Israel and Hamas.

Shoukry was speaking on panel in Riyadh with Jordan’s Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, who said war in Gaza had turned “Israel into pariah state”. Meanwhile, United States has seen “Measurable progress” in humanitarian situation in Gaza over past few weeks, US secretary of state Antony Blinken said, but urged Israel to do more.

Speaking in Riyadh at opening of US-Gulf Cooperation Council meeting, Blinken said most effective way to alleviate humanitarian crisis in Gaza was to achieve ceasefire. He said Washington continued efforts to prevent Gaza war from expanding.
