WASHINGTON: US State Department has said US does not support candidate of a political party against candidate of another party in Pakistan. Principal Deputy Spokesperson Vedant Patel while briefing newsmen in Washington said, “We support peaceful upholding of democratic, constitutional and legal principles, he added. He said US will not allow propaganda and wrong and misleading information to come on way to its bilateral relations with Pakistan. Pakistan is our important partner. US values its longstanding cooperation with Pakistan, he added.

He said that United States has always viewed a prosperous and democratic Pakistan as critical to US interests and that remains unchanged.

Regarding new statement of PTI Chairman Imran Khan with reference to US conspiracy narrative he said we had already said there was no substance in these allegations. We have nothing more to say in this respect.  A prosperous and democratic Pakistan and our long standing relations with Pakistan are important for us, he remarked. US has always viewed a prosperous and democratic Pakistan as critical to our interests not just in region, but also world more broadly.
