Uzbek President invites int’l investors at moot

Karachi: President of Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev at Second Tashkent International Investment Forum said meetings with representatives of foreign governments, international financial institutions and heads of high-profile companies are becoming good tradition for all of us, according to reports reached here.

We have continued systemic reforms to further liberalise our economy, open wide path for businesses and strengthen rule of law and legal guarantees. Value-added tax rate has been reduced to 12 percent. 7 days VAT refund system has been introduced for exporters.

Dividends of foreign investors were exempted from taxation for three years, actual profit tax was reduced from 20 to 12 percent. Customs duties have been abolished on more than 7 thousand types of raw materials and goods. We are interested in becoming member of WTO as soon as possible.

Annual volume of attracted foreign investments reached $ 10 billion-nearly 1 million people have been lifted out of poverty and poverty rate has dropped from 17 to 14 percent.
