ISLAMABAD: Former President and co-Chairman Pakistan Peoples’ Party Asif Ali Zardari and Chairman Party and Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Foundation Day of Party paid homage to heroes of Party who were martyred while standing firm on their ideology.


 Tribute was paid to those who have dedicated their lives for Party, they said in seperate statements. They said that PPP defeated three dictators for democracy to emerge as victorious. Courage is heritage of leadership of Party and there is no doubt that determination of workers of Party is also exemplary. Zardari said that Quaid-e-Awam, Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto could have lived by bowing down before dictator but he chose to sacrifice himself for nation. Madar-e-Jamhooriat, Begum Nusrat Bhutto sacrificed everything for sake of country and nation but never gave up, he recalled.  Zardari said that Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, as young girl resisted barbaric and brutal tyranny.

He said that democratic struggle destroyed idols of powerful dictators. Today graveyard of Garhi Khuda Bakhsh is inhabited by martyrs, but there is no sign of names of their killers anywhere. He said that we are political followers of Quaid-e-Awam Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto. There is difference between us and our opponents, he concluded.


Meanwhile, Bilawal Bhutto said that his Party’s struggle for 55 years is close to fruition as there will be supremacy of Constitution and democracy will be strengthened in country and after upcoming general elections, there will be ‘Awami Raj’ in all four provinces including Centre.


 He said that his Party is only political party in country which has its roots in public. He said that PPP faced most difficult situations with courage and bravery and provided leadership to country and nation during trying and difficult situations. He said that PPP is torchbearer of democracy, human rights and equality in Pakistan. “Along with making supremacy of Constitution and Parliament inviolable, establishment of society based on equality and prosperity of people is our mission,” he said.
